Healthy Hints for 2010!

To Help You and Your Family Feel Great and Stay Healthy

  • Hint # 1 – Start The Day With Breakfast

Breakfast fuels your mind and your body, so always make time for this important meal.

  • Hint # 2 – Pre-Think Your Snacks

Healthy snacks help boost your energy level throughout the day. By planning snacks, you will feel better and think more clearly.

  • Hint # 3 – Eat Dinner With the Family

Plan a family dinner as often as you can. Be a good role model for your children by preparing simple but nourishing foods.

  • Hint # 4 – Become a Fruit & Vegetable Fanatic

Fruits and vegetables offer a wealth of good nutrition with delicious flavors.

  • Hint # 5 – Choose Beverages Carefully

Keeping your body full of nutritious liquid is very important for adults and children alike. Teach your children to avoid sugary soft drinks as they are high in both calories and sugar.

  • Hint # 6 – Get Plenty of Sleep

A minimum of 8 hours of sleep every night will fully rest an adult body for the next day. Children need 1-3 hours more than this, depending on their age. As a general rule make sure children are in bed on time then parents can get to bed on time, too.

  • Hint # 7 – Take a Breath of Fresh Air

Getting outdoors for one or more fresh air breaks everyday is a great way to clear your mind. Dress appropriately and take a walk.

  • Hint # 8 – Move Your Body

Physical activity is something we all need to do everyday. Young children need to actively play, ride a bike, and play with the dog. Teens need to shoot hoops, roller blade, or swim. Adults need to jog or walk the track or treadmill. Choose a favorite activity and get moving.

  • Hint # 9 – Nourish Your Soul

We all need time to relax, even if it is just for 10 minutes a day. For some people, a good book is best. For others a chat on the phone with a family member or friend works.

  • Hint # 10 – Set A Good Example

A healthy lifestyle includes many things such as eating well, exercising, getting a good night’s sleep, forming healthy relationships, staying safe, and setting aside time to rejuvenate yourself.
