My GEMS Story: Rachel Turner
Rachel Turner
Patient Experience Coordinator, 3HC Corporate Office
“One of our home hospice patients passed away in mid-November. Her family asked that her son, our patient at Kitty Askins Hospice Center, be transported to the funeral home to see his mom one last time before the funeral. This came up late on a Friday afternoon, as a wish through our 3HC Butterfly Wings Program. The funeral was quickly approaching that Sunday. Rachel reached out to North State Transport several times between Friday and Saturday, refusing to give up, to ensure this transport could happen. With their help, it did! She stayed in contact with the family, even after hours and on the weekend. This was a very unusual wish; however, Rachel handled it gracefully. Her heart for her job, for this patient, and for this family shined through.” -April Brantham, Director of Philanthropy
